The Entrepreneurship Journal for Finance and Business (EJFB) strictly adheres to ethical standards regarding authorship to ensure that all individuals who contributed significantly to a manuscript are properly recognized, and that those recognized are fully accountable for the work.
1. Authorship Criteria
To be listed as an author on a manuscript submitted to EJFB, an individual must meet all four of the following criteria:
-
Substantial Contributions: Made significant contributions to the conception or design of the work; or the acquisition, analysis, or interpretation of data for the work.
-
Drafting and Revision: Drafted the work or revised it critically for important intellectual content.
-
Final Approval: Gave final approval of the version to be published.
-
Accountability: Agreed to be accountable for all aspects of the work, ensuring that questions related to the accuracy or integrity of any part of the work are appropriately investigated and resolved.
Individuals who do not meet all four criteria should not be listed as authors but should be recognized in the Acknowledgments section.
2. The Role of the Corresponding Author
The corresponding author acts as the primary point of contact with the editorial office during the submission, peer-review, and publication processes.
Responsibilities include:
-
Ensuring that all listed co-authors meet the authorship criteria and have approved the final manuscript.
-
Managing all communication with EJFB and ensuring timely responses to editorial queries.
-
Providing a valid ORCID iD. (Note: Effective October 2022, an ORCID identifier is strictly required for the corresponding author on all new manuscript submissions.)
3. Acknowledgments (Non-Author Contributors)
Contributors who assisted in the research but do not meet the strict criteria for authorship should be listed in an "Acknowledgments" section at the end of the manuscript.
Examples of contributions that generally do not justify authorship on their own include:
-
General administrative or technical support.
-
Acquisition of funding or general supervision of a research group.
-
Language editing, proofreading, or formatting assistance.
Authors must obtain permission from all individuals named in the Acknowledgments section.
4. Changes to Authorship
EJFB considers the author list submitted at the time of the original submission to be final. Any changes to the authorship list (adding, removing, or rearranging author names) after the initial submission must be handled with strict protocols:
-
Before Publication: The corresponding author must submit a formal request to the Editor-in-Chief explaining the reason for the change. This request must include a signed declaration of agreement from all original authors, including the author being added or removed.
-
After Publication: Changes to authorship after publication are generally not permitted unless a formal correction or erratum is deemed strictly necessary by the editorial board, following a thorough investigation.
5. Use of Artificial Intelligence (AI)
Artificial Intelligence (AI) tools, Large Language Models (LLMs), or similar technologies cannot be credited as authors on EJFB submissions, as they cannot take responsibility for the submitted work or hold copyright. If AI tools were used in the data analysis, writing, or editing process, their use must be fully disclosed in the manuscript's Methodology or Acknowledgments section.
